Paw Cycle
App Design
This project is a donation platform designed to reduce waste by helping pet food and unused pet items find a second life. The app connects donors and animal shelters through a shared marketplace where donors can offer items they no longer need and shelters can clearly list what they require. By enabling direct communication and shelter-led selection, the project supports safer, more relevant donations and encourages more sustainable use of existing pet resources.

Challenge
Local animal shelters often struggle with recurring supply shortages and an inefficient donation process, largely because donors have no direct, real-time insight into what supplies are urgently required. Potential donors and pet owners frequently want to contribute surplus items or purchase essentials, but fragmented communication across static websites and sporadic social media updates makes it difficult to coordinate. This disconnect leads to mismatched donations—where shelters receive items they already have while critical necessities go unmet—creating unnecessary logistics, wasted community goodwill, and administrative friction for shelter staff.
Objective
The objective of PawCycle is to design a localized mobile platform that bridges the communication divide between local animal shelters and pet owners. The core goal is to provide a transparent, map-centric interface where users can easily locate nearby facilities, view live wishlists categorized by specific shelter needs, and directly coordinate donations or pet supply handoffs through an integrated marketplace and messaging system. By streamlining community contributions, the platform aims to reduce supply waste, foster circular pet-care support, and lower the barriers for pet owners to assist local rescue organizations.
Results
The project delivered a tested, end-to-end mobile UX/UI solution centered around a clear four-tab architecture: Map, Marketplace, Message, and Profile. Through interactive map exploration and structured shelter profiles, users can effortlessly filter facilities by location, view opening hours, and check itemized supply requests such as pet food, bedding, and gear. The validated high-fidelity prototype establishes a warm, accessible visual design system with balanced orange tones and clear typography, successfully turning a chaotic donation process into a fast, transparent community experience.
